Surviving the July 4th Vacation Rental Rush

Last week I had the opportunity to be interviewed by the local news team before I raced the Coeur D’Alene Ironman.  The reporter asked me about my feelings on the swim.  The swim is a mad-dash of 2,300 people running off the beach into the water.  2,300 people – that is a lot of arms and legs flinging about.  The most important thing to remember in this situation is to remember to breathe and not let the people around you set the pace for you.  Stick to your own pace and what works for you.  Link to the interview:  Iromman Ralf VonSosen talks to KREM 2 News – Yahoo! That made me think of the 4th of July weekend for the vacation rental manager around the country bracing for the mad-rush of vacationers.  Success here is also defined by a solid plan and by sticking to what you, as a property manager, knows works for you.  Do not let others dictate the pace for you, but execute with your team just as you have practices and planned.  Ensure you have a vacation rental software system that will provide you the visibility into guests, issues, and reservations.  The empowerment of that visibility will allow you to make fast decisions and therefore act quickly.
